Hello
I have just started my family tree and was wondering if anyone has any information about the Baverstock family which i have traced back to Imber. The earliest I have gone back is with Ismael Baverstock who was born in about 1780. I also have the name of William Alfred Baverstock who was the 'chief fire officer of warminster' until he retired in 1925. I would be really grateful if anyone could shed anymore information about the family. Also I was wondering if anyone had any information about what happened to families when they had to move out of Imber - were they compensated for their land or did they just have to start again. I find all this really interesting!
thanks

I'm looking for information about the Willis family that lived in that area in the 1600s. My grandmother was a Willis and I've found enough info to have read the following about the family in England, but would like to have some documentation. I'm a descendant of the immigrant Henry Willis (b.14 Sept.1628 Devizes, Wiltshire, Eng -- d.11 Jul 1714 Westbury, Long Island, NY, USA). He & his family immigrated in the 1660s or 1670s.

His father was also Henry Willis (1600-1675) and it's been reported that he and his father were members of the St. Denys Church in Warminster & family births, marriages, & burials are recorded there.

I've been trying to find if this information is online, but haven't found anything. Any info on this family or were to find info on them would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -Ann

I'm looking for information regarding Washington BUCKLER (c 1797 - 1841) and his ancestors. He had 2 children; Fanny Washington (1820 - 1893) who appears to have died childless and George Alfred (1827 - ?) who came to Australia in 1861. Washington's father was Thomas BUCKLER and his mother Hannah Sarah ?. Washington married Fanny BRUTTON although I don't know when.
George Alfred disappears from the Australian records after the birth of his second son and I actually wonder if he, his wife Ellen KENNEDY and son John Thomas might not have returned to England.
So ... 3 questions (with the Bucklers' being a largish family)
1. Can someone help me with Thomas and Hannah and any siblings for Washington (ie. can we work out the connections for some more ancestors)?
2. Can someone help with the BRUTTON family (also appears to be a very large family in South East England)?
3. Does anyone know about (descended from) John Thomas BUCKLER (1867, Victoria Aus - ?) and his parents - possibly returned to England in the latter part of the 1800s.

Does anyone remember an Emily Richens who moved to Warminster from Truro in probably 1930 with a small girl called Margaret (Peggie)? They had a house built called Redrufe in Bradley Road, it is still there, although it is now a different number. Emily was an elderly victorian health worker and interfered in everyone's lives, although she was helpful to some in that capacity! The child was not her own and she didn't adopt her until just before the war but she went to St Denys School and both went to the church there. Peggie ran the local cub/scout group and worked at the local telephone exchange during the war. She also helped out at Mrs Fraser's school, but not sure in what capacity. She eventually married a John Welch in 1942 and they lived in Warminster for a short time with Emily in Bradley Road, they then both moved to Essex to his home town. Emily followed a couple of years later.

My grandfather was Jack Curtis and lived in Warminster for many years. He died recently and I was wondering if anybody remembers him. He lived in Queensway and worked in various places including Clark's and the REME and was quite well known around the town. If anyone does have any memories or even pictures I would be glad to have them. Many thanks

Hi to everyone in Warminster. I am new to this site so hope am putting this request in the right place. I am just wondering if anyone there remembers any Prices from Bread Street. Evaline Lucy is my husband's grandmother. I have been told that she is 1 of 19 children(source: Yesterday's Warminster by Danny Howell). Her father was Harry Price,born(1861)and her mother was Matilda. Matilda died in 1895, the year that Evaline was born. Harry then married Elizabeth King in 1896.
Elizabeth, Harry and their 2 youngest boys, Alfred and Leslie played in the Salvation Army band, but I don't know when.
I have 10 of their children and just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the others.
Here's who I have:
HARRY AND MATILDA
ANNIE L,ETHEL MAE,HARRY ALBERT,FLORENCE M G, BESSIE MABEL, KATHLEEN MABEL, EVALINE LUCY
HARRY AND ELIZABETH
ALFRED HOWARD, VIOLET CANSTANCE E, LESLIE STEPHEN.
I do know that Florence and Bessie both died in 1893, at a very young age.
I hope this is enough information for you

thanks heaps

I'm looking for the family of my ggg grandmother Anne Buckler who married Thomas Linthorne in Corsley in 1815. She had one son who came out to Western Australia in the late 1830's.
After Thomas died she married again to William Stoker Robins in St Denys Church Warminster.
I would love to find a family for her. I know Anne's parents were John Buckler and Ellin Peach married in Westbury in 1775. My problem is finding which of the Buckler families John belonged to.

Also does anyone have information on the artist John Buckler (birth and death dates etc), who evidently painted many of the churches in Warminster.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi,
I am from Australia and I am researching my family history. I have traced William Tudway Cains back to St Philips and St Jacob, Warminster. The only St Philip and St Jacob I can find is in Bristol, which I estimate to be about 35Km away from Warminster. The only material that supports this is published by other family history researchers on Ancestery site. W.T. Cains was born in 1801, December 25. He was convicted of an offence in Wiltshire on 11 July 1820 and transported to the colony in New South Wales for 7 years.
1. Was St Philip and St Jacob in Warminster or do you think the reference is to Bristol?
2. Where would be a good place to search for court records of W.T Cains?
3. Was there a census between 1801 and 1820 in UK/Wiltshire?

Any assistance with my research will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Malcolm Mackenzie
